The best way to save time using apps
I’ve just discovered a new way to help me save time and make the most of my day, every day and I just have to share it with you. And let me start by saying that this post is in no way sponsored.
I try to squeeze as much as I can into every day: working a full time job, running a side business, designing stickers, engaging with our instagram community (@paperandbelle), making YouTube videos, blogging, spending time with hubby, sleeping, reading and binge watching my favourite shows on Netflix. Whoa! That sounds like a lot. And there are many days where I don’t get to do everything I wanted and I wonder to myself, “where did the time go?”.
If that sounds familiar to you, let me introduce you to my new favourite way to find time in my day for the things that are important to me: time tracking. I’ve been using the Life Cycle app on my phone to track what I’m doing all day, every day as precisely as possible so that I can take a look at it in the end and see where all the time goes. I feel I sometimes spend too much time watching TV or lazing about, so it’s a great way to see how you actually spend your time and not just how you think you spend your time.
The best feature is that the app uses location and motion tracking data, and integrates with Apple health and can input data for you such as when you arrive and leave work, when you sleep, when you’re at home etc. You can also add in your own custom activities and adjust the times when needed.
Oh, and there’s a 14 day free trial, so you have nothing to lose! Give it a try, and let me know where you’ve been spending a lot of time that you’d like to cut back on.
The app doesn’t let you set a time in advance for any activity - that actually makes a whole lot of sense. You might say you’re going to spend an hour reading, but during that hour you might browse on your phone and get a snack from the kitchen as well. By forcing you to backdate your time, you focus only on the actual time you spent on each activity
For an annual membership fee of under $15, you can also get some pretty powerful reports giving you great insights into how you’re spending your time. It’s a great way to see where you’re spending more time than you’d like, and what you’d like to spend more time doing.
And what better way to help you spend your time wisely than to plan out your day using our gorgeous collection of printable downloadable digital stickers!
